Instagram is a great platform for sharing moments, but sometimes you might feel the need to take a break or leave it for good. Whether you want to delete your Instagram account permanently or temporarily deactivate it, this guide will walk you through the process.
If you’re sure about leaving Instagram forever, follow these steps:
Step 1: Visit the Instagram Account Deletion Page
Go to this link and log in to your account.
Step 2: Choose a Reason
Instagram will ask why you’re deleting your account. Pick a reason from the dropdown menu.
Step 3: Enter Your Password & Confirm
To proceed, re-enter your password and click Delete [Your Username].
💡 Note: Instagram will keep your data for 30 days before permanently removing it.
If you just need a break but plan to return later, deactivation is a better option.
Step 1: Log in to Instagram from a Browser
You can’t deactivate your account from the mobile app, so use a computer or phone browser.
Step 2: Go to Your Profile & Edit
Click your profile picture (top right) → Edit Profile.
Step 3: Click “Temporarily Disable My Account”
Scroll down, select a reason, enter your password, and confirm the action.
💡 Your profile will be hidden until you log back in!
