Anyone from either spouse can start the divorce procedure in Singapore. The most important thing is that the pair has been married for at least three years. But there are times when the waiting period may be shorter, like when there is cheating or abuse.

To get a divorce, you have to file a case with the court. This letter lists the reasons for the divorce and any other information that is important. A decree nisi, which is a preliminary decree, is given if the court agrees with the case. After a certain amount of time, the court can issue a ruling absolute, which ends the divorce for good.

When you get divorced, your marriage ends. But when you get an annulment in Singapore, it starts over. An annulment says that a marriage was never legal to begin with. This is usually done when there was a big problem with the marriage, like cheating or being forced to get married.
