Trademark Registration in Delhi: Process, Fees, Documents and Timeline (2026 Guide)

Trademark registration in Delhi gives a business the exclusive legal right to use its brand name, logo, slogan or other distinctive mark for the goods or services it offers. The process is governed by the Trade Marks Act, 1999 and the Trade Marks Rules, 2017, and applications from Delhi are handled by the Trade Marks Registry at Boudhik Sampada Bhawan, Sector 14, Dwarka, New Delhi. The same office also covers Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh.

Any individual, proprietor, partnership firm, LLP, company, trust or society claiming ownership of a mark can apply. The application is filed online in Form TM-A on the IP India portal, with a separate fee for each class applied for under the 45-class Nice Classification. The government fee is ₹4,500 per class for individuals, startups and small enterprises, and ₹9,000 per class for all other applicants when filed electronically.

After filing, the ™ symbol can be used and the application moves to examination. The examiner may accept the mark or raise objections under Section 9 for lack of distinctiveness or under Section 11 for similarity with an earlier mark. A reply must be filed within 30 days, and a hearing may follow. Once accepted, the mark is published in the Trade Marks Journal, where third parties get four months to file an opposition. If no opposition is filed, the registration certificate is issued and the ® symbol can be used.

A registered trademark stays valid for 10 years and can be renewed indefinitely for further 10-year periods. Registration strengthens legal action against infringement, supports brand verification on e-commerce platforms, and turns a brand into an asset that can be licensed or assigned.
