IV cannulas are intravenous access devices that are used by nurses to place the needle directly inside the patient’s veins. This allows for the passage of drugs, fluids, and blood transfusions into the body. Winged designs allow the cannula to lie flat on the skin, while a built-in port facilitates the injection of other medicines without removing the cannula. Clear hubs are used in order to observe the blood flashback when placing the cannula. These come in nine different gauge sizes between 14G and 26G.
