The AMC (Australian Medical Council) Physical Examination is a face-to-face assessment designed to evaluate the clinical skills and competence of international medical graduates (IMGs) seeking registration in Australia. The exam, commonly referred to as OYAmed (On Your Assessment day), consists of 16 stations, with 14 scored scenarios covering various medical disciplines, including medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and psychiatry. Candidates are tested on their ability to take a thorough history, perform physical examinations, interpret findings, communicate effectively with patients, and formulate management plans. The face-to-face format replicates real-life clinical encounters, requiring candidates to demonstrate both their technical skills and their capacity for empathetic, patient-centered care.
