The cylinder
relief valve protects the cylinder against excessive pressure. The blow-off
pressure should be adjusted 20 to 30% above the normal working load. The pressure relief
valve is designed to
keep a cylinder from exploding in case of fire or extreme temperature. The main purpose is to lift when overpressure occurs in the combustion
area; the resultant combustion gas is expelled through a flanged pipe to the deck.
